I forget - taiji is kind of like Tai Chi?
Hey - I have been meaning to ask - what does manawa mean? Just curious..
Oh, manawa is a polynesian term which means "Now is the moment of power." Taiji is Tai Chi. I spell it different to call attention to the
traditional system that I learned vs the watered down "dancing" that people think is "tai chi" today. Tai Chi means "Grand Ultimate" and is
the meaning of manawa I mean
short for "taijichuan" which means "grand ultimate boxing"
I actually took a tai chi course while I was living in New Zealand. It was great - though I never got very good at it
It's very neat, the kind of exercise you can keep developing your body through a ripe old age.Probably best if you never feel "good" at it
well, now with my hip problem, I don't know that I can do it any more.
Oh golly! I can give you some hip stretches and with practice you can get that thing more healthier again. These stretches are easy.
Was thinking of posting them anyways.Slowly gonna rebuild a website. This plurk thing is kind of a mental base of operations.
I'll try anything. I hate being in pain
hip pain is the worst. well, for me.
i'll work on it tomorrow for you, i want to get some pictures of me doing the stretches, that's the hardest part
ok. thanks!!
i have a hip joint that is probably pretty degenrated. Had trouble with it since childhood. I don't want to get a hip replacement.
Don't have insurance nor the budget for it either.
Nor do I generally trust the medical profession
I can help. I've got issues with my hips, too. My dad got a hip replaced at young age.You do NOT want that!
I think my dad was maybe 55 or so.
no, I don't want that at all...
just that nothing I have done so far has helped much
well, for a while I did yoga stretches (before it was this bad), meditation, Reiki healing, eliminating foods that are inflammatory,
taking herbal remedies and fish oil and other supplements (a la Peregrine recommendations).
anything I have missed? LOL
From my experience what I can tell you is that I have had problems w/ my hips since I was young. The taiji stuff helped immensely, but
if I don't keep up on my stretching, everything tightens up and I have a LOT of pain, even though I seem to stay pretty flexible. So you have
to keep up on it. I started to think lately that the pain is good b/c it reminds me how important it is to do my stretching.
silver lining kind of thing *shrugs*
you are young to have hip pains... Since I already have had problems in this one hip since childhood, I figure it is finally
My daughter-in-law is a nurse, and of course, she thinks I should run right to the doctor.
yeah, well, i'm sure the doctors would love to put a new hip in. Great for business, probably not for you.
I keep telling her I will heal without the doctors... but she thinks I am a little nutty I am sure
Yeah, you'll get that! I don't know what he'd say, but I'm sure "20" would be happy to work with you if you contacted him. He's got more
experience than me.I'd like to think I've got a good handle- but also it can really help to get the face-time.
That guy is brilliant, for sure. Fun as heck, too. There's probably a good reason I take the approach I do.I'm blessed to have come across him
"How do I know him?"*literally laughing out loud* Well, that's an interesting story.Serendipity for sure.
A little long to give it justice on plurk. But the simple version is that a highskool friend of mine was taking taiji from him when we were19
