Well, I dunno. With the guitar a real inspiration was Dave Matthews- but I didn't even like him for a long time.But I like a lot of stuff-

and I don't like a lot of stuff.

do you read music or play by ear?

I can read piano music okay, I somehow got better without practice over the years. W/ guitar I use tabulature.

My ear is decent, but never got good at figuring stuff out like that so far.

it must be like other talents - we get better the more we do it. It's true for visual art, and sure it applies to music too.
