What's the difference between a friend and a fan and you can follow without being either?

A friend, you see theirs and they see yours.. a fan just sees yours.. or if you fan them, you just see theirs but they dont see yours.

I think you have to be one or the other to see their plurks show on your timeline... but if you are not a friend or fan, and they're public,

you can still see their plurks if you go to their timeline.

Becoming a fan is a polite way of saying hello. Asking for friendship can get you denied by some people, if they don't feel they know you.

Most SLers will accept a friend request. But it's those few who don't... that drop your karma a full point when they deny the request.

If you fan someone, and they fan you back, it's pretty safe to assume you can ask for friendship.

A full point??? damn, I never knew that! in the 90's that can be a BFD.
