the speed of it's development and need for advancement as our planet runs out of resources. Not in our lifetime but in the future travel

will demand the ability to cross our galaxy looking for the needed resources if they can not develop those needed resources.

because we live in a technical society. Students will be expected to have the skills. A student not knowing how to use a computer

because my 1 yr. old grandson loves to sit on my lap while I am using the computer. These kids think differently. It is a different world.

I don't know if technology is - I think the soft skills are more important, and the technology just helps them utilize those skills.

For example, effective library skills work as well in a brick-and-mortar building as they do using Google or Google Scholar.

I don't think so, although I think you'll start to see them configured differently (physical configuration that is).

I only used that as an example. Critical thinking & reasoning are other examples of skills students today need & technology is but one tool.

: I'm working on the problem of reasoning for my dissertation. How do you define reasoning
mkbshu

Personally
snupnjake
, I would say the ability to take facts or information & inductively or deductively make something out of it.

But that is just how I would operationalize it, this is not my area so I would imagine there are better sources.

My original point, & I'm not sure how well I did, was the skills today's students need are soft skills & tech is just a tool to help them.
Snupnjake

that's fine. I'm trying to create an operational definition and currently I'm using Piaget's work...but I'm not sure that's the best tack
