Wifey was talking to real estate agents in northern Mich, but I convinced her that >
we actually want to RENT vacation places for a couple years to get a better feel for the area.
In thinking about all the pros and cons, we are now leaning toward the other side of the state, tho.
Somewhere between AuGres and Harrisville (Tawas, Oscoda, etc.)

It will be much easier for our grandchildren to reach, and closer to old friends up north of Alpena.

going to be in Gaylord MI next month.
Ooooh! That is a wonderful area! Stop by Hartwick Pines State Park for an hour of two while you're nearby.
You can also pick bushels of raspberries and blackberries by the roadside on any of the 2-lane highways around there.
i haven't been to that state park yet..just the one on the lake we got o every year

the nice thing about Hartwick Pines is that it's the only place left where you can see what the country used to look like -
before it was logged over. Virgin timber was left by the loggers in just this one spot - and the trees are awe-inspiring.
