I installed Windows Home Server on my desktop. I'm liking it, so far
it sorta acts like a Drobo. It takes all of your different HDs and squishes them into one giant massive drive
I have a copy of it. Have yet to play with it.
My sister works in the industry...she gets my discounts on SOME things. Mostky the newest technology.
She gave me the Drobo for my birthday last may.
Hey..IF I upgrade the processor soon...you want my Intel C2D 4400? It's a rocking processor. VERY overclockable.
It's free.
You would have to get yourself a motherboard and prolly new memory.
Yeah, sure! That would be great
How do you like the Drobo? I heard on Macbreak this week they are rolling out a firewire model
Oh man, you never realize how slow USB 2.0 is until you try moving 500GB of data from one drive to another
The Drobo is a plugged in miracle. I LOVE it.
Does Windows Home Server have a GUI?
Did you install it on an extra box?
Or does it run on a virtual machine?
I have a 300GB in the desktop, then I have a 500GB & a 300GB external. I wanna take install the 500GB into the PC & combine it into 900GB
Yeah, WHS is basically Windows Server 2003 . It's has some things WS2K3 has and something it doesn't
It even says "Windows Server 2003" when it boots
The drobo failed one of my drives once and there was nothing wrong with it.
Hmmm...I'm going to check that out.
