if you use Firefox, try the Reload Every extension - set it to refresh every 5 minutes or so.

Command R is faster

with Reload Every, just set it Enable it and forgitaboutit

One bad thing about that reload thing is I don't want it reloading my gmail page, especially when I'm using google talk
