I have to admit, a little dissapointed that karma is a concern. That represents popularity and is plurks way to get you to invite more!

You can get Karma through invites, but just by Plurk/response you can as well. Friends aren't necessary. I know ppl w/ 10 or so friends,

and ~50 Karma... It is NOT a requirement.

but it is also good community building to participate and respond and be open and welcoming to new people and invite others
