I discovered that in an assignment from one of my preservice teachers do. We have software that catches it.
I even warned them that it would happen.
if they think we'll miss it or something? Why do people do that?
it's amazing teachers in training think they can get away with plaigiarism, even more than any other learner
maybe they're not very sure about who they are & what they know. IMHO, this may be a opp for them to be self aware & your teachable moment.
How are you going to handle it?
when we (you know, amuricans) lost a hold on personal integrity.

It is sad that a future teacher doesn't have their own beliefs.
I'm old, and I've seen a definite trend toward plagiarism -- and most of the perpetrators truly believe there's nothing wrong with it.
Because it's so "easy" to do.
One middle shooler asked me, defiantly, "If they don't want us to take their stuff, why do they put it out there?"
While I wouldn't advocate plagiarism (passing someone else's work off as yours) I think the copyright pendulum has swung too far
Anyway, I asked him if he'd ever been to a museum... was he allowed to take the artwork home? Why did they put it out there? He got it.
and stifles many great creative and derivative works.
Suing someone because a TV in the background had an episode of Simpsons, or popular music while shooting a documentary? Give me a break.
what you are going to do about the paper?
what does your school policy say you HAVE to do?
Good question
andreablanco Also has the student failed to cite at all, or is it just this one bit? If the former it's a learning chance no?
if the latter, what are the rules for plaigiarism?
a principal in our neck of the woods was 'reassigned' after he was caught using someone else's work for part of his commencement speech.
I asked him to redo the paper. It's worth 320 pts. He's from Jordan and I think it was a lesson in Grade. It's a Christian college.
it's sad that some educators feel "exempt" from copyright laws. Needs to be more emphasis on this!
too many believe the old saying that if you copy from one it's plagiarism, if you copy from many, it's research.
