approves. Also, we can give FNs which means Failure and not attendance. This causes students to lose financial aid and scholarships.
I approve of the concept but I feel that without any review the policy is too easy to abuse.
it sounded to me like it was well regulated. It can only be imposed by department chairs, which means there is a process.
if I catch a student plagiarizing I don't just fail him/her, we have a meeting with a director AND submit an academic dishonesty report.
if it is going all the way to the department head, that is some serious grade regulation.
ah, did not catch that part. Sounds like an excellent plan to me.
eh, i don't care if they don't attend class. they are just wasting their parents money. that just gets a regular F
(as does IU) that if they are not attending and getting federal aid, then they are misusing funds someone who WOULD go to class could use.
i can see the point (w/ regard to federal aid). i think that you should have your aid taken away if you fail anyway.
maybe that is mean to the kids on fed. aid that try and fail, but they should probably try a diff. program. too many kids go to college.
failed a class or two... they were given as sacrifice to the Compiler Gods.
i guess i more meant failed in the big F failed the semester way
my roommate left purdue with a .67 gpa
then again, i might also be making these points because i HATE taking attendance (takes forever with 300 students)
plus students always leave right after you do it.
I had a prof in class of 50 that had TA's take attendance during class because we all had assigned seats.
knows of instructors at IU that lock the doors when class starts. No stragglers allowed. I don't know the policy on leaving.
