actually most births take place outside of the hospital... we are the strange ones here in the US

I had my first w/o any medical intervention...not even Tylenol! And the doctor was there with me, in the hospital. Where did you read this?

my doctor was totally into natural birthing, w/o all the interventions, and worked with 4 midwives at the time.

In fact, she delivered her first born 2 weeks after she helped deliver mine!
