Honestly, one can cook with the things quite happily and they just add a nicely rounded spiciness to a dish. Much better than many chillies.

That is a bit extreme I think - just washing my hands properly usually does for me.
The answer to the dinner thing is a stir-fry involving onions and an African vegetable called a Garden Egg, a sort of squash/gourd.

The capsaicin seems to get right into my nails and such, even with good washing.
The garden eggs were the bitter sort (I only learnt this recently) so I think it could have done with some extra sweet element.
I do sometimes use a nailbrush in these instances as well.
Gloves - one quick peel, no question of accidental eyerubbing.
Another handy hint. When grinding cayenne peppers in a coffee grinder.... lift the lid CAREFULLY.

It is a very economical pepper.
They sell them in big punnets containing fifteen or twenty of them, around here. I cannot imagine using all those before they went off.
You could dry them, though.
Or make sauces. Still a large quantity for domestic use.
we grew them once and I took some green ones into the office. A coworker thought it was a baby bell
and popped it into his mouth. He said it was a bit warm all of the sudden.
