Well sometimes its for securiity reasons, specially where vendors may be scripted.

1L doesn't actually have any real world value, its also a little easier to track trends than 0L. When I was new tot he grid, back in the day

1L was the norm, no one thought of it as as having any value and it was considered by most as 'freee'
