it is seriously one of THE hardest things i have ever tried doing.
you really underestimate all the forces involved and the RIDICULOUS instability of the board you're working with.
... and how awesome I am at it .
and us too, we are also awesome
we should go, you should buy a boat and we'll come visit you to wakeboard
feck no. that is the least fun i've ever had in the water!
im supposedly "really good" for a beginner but all i remember was the "glugglugglug" and the smack of my body against the water. oh, and the
ewww the water must have been freezing!
i think waterskiing/wakeboarding/other similar activities are something i would only try once
if you only try once you would never like it
then maybe its not meant to be liked! XD
haha they're like any other more 'extreme' sport. they take practice. and patience.
I think trying waterskiing first is a MUST. it's not like riding an innertube or water slide, this is a SPORT. it's work.
just like you wouldn't be great at snowboarding or skiing first time up, might get frustrated and not want to go again
that's what the other guys were saying too. water skiing gives you the mechanics to get started with wakeboarding.
and i think i'd be awesome at snowboarding - there's no rope pulling me or water to fight against
i agree, but i DID start with it when i was 12 or so.
and i find snowboarding WAYYYYY harder than wakeboarding, personally
i don't like gravity. i like falling in water. it's way more forgiving than ice
ahh, well i've done a lot of downhill skateboarding/rollerblading and surfing - it's all gravity based. but yes, falling in the lake isn't
nearly as abusive but with wakeboarding it's definitely cumulative.
agreed- i get WAY more tired after 15 min of wakeboarding than 15 min of snowboarding.
it's way more intensive because you're using so much of your own strength to stay up on the water
i just hate how you make me feel like it's my fault the board was flailing all over the place. it's got fins so it's not supposed to do
that! otherwise it's poorly designed imo.
not at all, that's just practice. you can't blame the board for something you're not used to controlling.
i dont see how you can even come close to controlling that nonsense. either i was doing something horribly wrong and no one is telling me
or you guys have tree trunks for legs - which you dont.
it shouldnt be oscillating back and forth in 2 feet swaths - no one can control that.
not with the brute force you seem to imply is required.
you just get used to controlling it, and that's all. you can't do it on your very first try. it was also a VERY choppy day and terrible
"get used to it" isn't exactly how someone learns a specific technique. not when they face planted 5 out of 5 times.
haha more like LEARN. i face planted 10+ times before i learned.
when i was 12 i was dragged for a LONG ass time and got water up my nose because i was so terrified and wouldnt let go
but i'd be damned if my brothers could do it and i couldn
i think that was the driving force for a LOT of things growing up. we were so competitive among each other.
I can school all of you in wakeboarding. HUZZAH!
hahaha i love how Tuan just chimes in at the end
It's different with everyone too. I got up on my first try, but Chris had a couple face plants like you Brad.
it makes me want to go cry in a corner. it was so traumatic.
you're just jealous that our type is bigger than yours
I did it for the first time this summer. It takes FOREVER to get up, but once you get the hang of getting up, your set
for the basic stuff anyway, not so much for jumping or anything
