why it made national news. It was a minor quake in a quake prone region.

The news - major story and twitters - I can't get ahold of loved ones. Thought it was bad.

I'm pretty far out. My supervisor was trying to convince me it was a passing tank. So I printed seismograph readings from the usgs site.

The bbc picked it up. I'm thinking it's a slow news day.
