keep your fingers above the home keys...finger of your left hand starting with pinky...a-s-d-f - thumb should be over the space bar.

fingers of your right hand starting with the index finger... j-k-l-; (semi-colon). Right thumb should be over the space bar as well.

then memorize the positions of all of the letters. I took typing in 8th grade. Never did anything with it, though.

I have about 60 wmp (300 strokes per minute - that's how it is counted in Germany) when I write in German

and it is really just a matter of training, don't give up - a year ago I had about 30 wpm

surely you can plurk 40wpm. It'll be OK!
