I loved the Bluest Eye! It was really interesting.
one of the most boring books ive ever read
It was a little messed up and disturbing but it was necessary.
I disagree. Why do you think it's boring?
eh its ok got better when the book got toward the end
It was pretty boring, but it did bring out points that everyone should think about, but was disturbing in some spots.
it was really weird, but i kinda liked it
I enjoyed it and I hardly ever read.
didnt like it at all lets watch crash or gran trino
i didnt understand the ending or anything and i didnt like it
How many books do we read in this class?
What is our next book like?
easier read...non-fiction..all about a woman who tries to live for a year on minimum wage...she works as a waitress, at a "wal-mart" type
store, as a cleaning lady...it's not tough to read at all. it's pretty shocking too, the things she finds out...
we're gonna look at socio-economic stuff, what it means to be poor in America
glad you liked Bluest...I don't think it went over too well!
I was really surprised that I liked it too
Our next book sounds really interesting as well
mmm...don't know...how can i get more people to talk?? I'm a bit frustrated. i love our class; it's just tricky to get the participation
i'm open to suggestions...i know it's not everybody's thing!
yeah, nickel and dimed is really good..read it in grad school. random family is excellent too..but LONG...that's why we're just doing a bit
I really don't know how to get more people to talk. Maybe we could try playing some games that have to do with the reading or something
games are a good idea...we're going to play a theater game next week...i already thought about that!!!
Cider friday with MANTATERS!!!!!
what is a theater game? I really hope it doesn't involve any kind of acting. haha
not really...it'll be funny, promise
Nickel and dimed is a very good read. Interesting to read with the current discussion of health care in the nation.
Whooo! Cider friday!
The book was alright. Some parts were very slow and hard to understand, while other parts went by very quickly.
It was good but it just seemed too hopeless for me. I don't think its impossible to come from a bad black background and be successful.
not now...but think about it back then...remember, we were still in segregated schools in the sixties!!
