3 months ago I was tasked with deploying two systems for an application upgrade project

I was given two weeks to deploy the two systems - this includes hardware install, power allocation, networking, OS install, and app setup.

day one of the two week window, app engineer asks if I can have the first one delivered in three days

last friday, they went live with the new app version

last saturday, we had a building power grid shutdown for electrical maintenance

because of the 3 day urgency, the systems got deployed on street power, not UPS, for lack of power allocation from facilities

so when the power went out, these fuckers were lights out

so the root cause would be "D'oh!"
