In a way. The government really screwed things up after emancipation and just threw blacks out into the world and having not properly
established themselves, many black people are just now starting to get proper educations and good jobs.
after the war was over, and the slaves were free, the government basically just said go do your own thing, and that was that
there was not a lot of thought put into that, and after over 100 years, blacks are still struggling to catch up in some areas
They aren't as closely linked as they used to be, but they are linked. The article shows that.
yeah...the book we're starting is about a middle-class white woman living on minimum wage and she said she thought things would be TOTALLY
different if she were black...and you'll see, it's amazing that things could be worse...because she lives in a pretty nasty situation
they are linked poor black neighborhoods dont have money because they are usually all poor people
i think today it is possible for everybody to be in the upper and middle social class
but I also think living in a suburban community improves your chances to be successful
i agree..you're at a definite advantage if you have money, good community, etc.
people say that after the slaves were freed they were just left to do there own thing and never succeeded even after 100 years, but if you..
think about it, what was america based on? we were freed and left on our own, 200 years later were the most powerful in the world, and it
didnt take us long to get there
an interesting point...maybe still at a disadvantage though; no family, a truly foreign place...
