doing her work in school? I need any and all ideas, Thank you.
could use ideas about the eating issue for my son myself, and he's not yet at school age
it's an anxiety issue - she doesn't want to fail or fail you. that's what must be addressed.
how old is she? My daughter got *much* better at that stuff as she got older - around 10 or so.
she still tends to procrastinate, but I think that's in her genes - she needs a deadline to really get motivated.
how about some kind of reward for finishing?
a goal to work towards is always helpful
and as for eating, it is true - if they cook it themselves, they'll eat it. Even if it contains broccoli.
she's 5 and she doesnt get upset about being slow, she just likes to take her time, school doesnt give any limits for her to eat in
today she was allowed to bring her lunch to class because she took so long
and she loves veggies, so the food isnt the problem its the time she takes to eat it...
I wouldn't worry about it - this is what kindergarten is for - getting them used to having a set schedule, lining up, settling down, etc.
I used to worry about stuff like that too. Relax, and save your energy for algebra homework in a few years.
it goes by *way* faster than you'd think.
It's a personality thing--eventually she'll grow out of eating slowly, and it will manifest in other ways.
But it isn't a flaw, and perfectly functional adults ate slowly as kids--I should know, I was one of those kids!
I'm honestly not worried, except for the fact that I've been told twice from her school about it, and it's not just food, she's slow doing
her work, and they automatically put her down as learning slow when she is just meticulous, you know?
Yup, I know exactly!

If you are sure to tell her that she's doing great, and that wanting it to be perfect is normal, she'll be OK.
so i need to tell her school to chill out
Yes--it's a personality trait and has nothing to do with slow learning. As a matter of fact people with that personality tend to be very
intelligent and *fast* learners--they just want things to be perfect!
I think that's how she is, time will tell...
::nodnodnod:: Certainly it's much too early to write her down as a "slow learner"--geesh!
when children are hungry, they eat. If we stop encouraging them to eat when they're not, maybe we'd be a less obese society.
