in Hemingway's bio it said that he blamed his mother for his father's suicide so maybe that influenced the way he portrayed

It's certainly possible- he is known for being quite the misogynist. I think part of that might be the influence of the time period.

well, it is the "Lost Generation". As we discussed in class, Hemingway was very masculine...

I saw many of his life experiences in "snows of kilamanjaro". like his outdoor adventures in africa.
