only if it impedes the search engines, just make sure any redirection is done properly.

I read somewhere, with or without the /index.php/ in the (perma)link, it will still find it. I tried it without,and it indeed found the page

you still might take a hit even if its redirecting ok, but it's nothing much. I'd take the slight possible hit......

I2m just wondering about doing that, since with wordpress 2.6, that was a problem. So God knows, they may not support it anymore soon anyway

I did that just recently (remove the index.php from my URL) & re-org my permalinks. Not sure yet if it's affecting my SEO/traffic that much.

Oh, and I did put re-directs, so old links are re-directing (even the search engines). I tested it on one of my popular posts - & Google
