The reason behind it is the whole idea of discussion. The occasional "Going to sleep/eat/etc" is okay

As a microblog though, it's far more interesting to say "I'm trying a new vegan restaurant called 'Hearts' on Pacific Ave. for lunch."

(the second statement is far more likely to get commentary...)
