no real question. I find it limits me, because Wordpress is definately not written with IIS in mind. E.g. all these references to .htaccess

and with the limited finetuning available cos of my host, I'm thinking of switching to non-windows server.

.htaccess files works on my Windows box with Apache (for some things)

well, that's the thing. The webserver is IIS and not apache. And that's where I feel a bit of discomfort.

good lord you have to be a sadist to run it on IIS. Why would you when Apache runs on Windows? don't have a choice?

thanks for the link, am in the proces of restoring now, and it's back ok for 80%. Have some work to do still though

I read somewhere that you have to modify your custom 404 error page to get rid of the index.php.But then, you have no real custom 404 either

it is a pain. I've done it. Problem is ultimately you will move to apache. This will cause permalink issues. Do it sooner than later
