I'm home.Subbed for dd#1's preschool, then took dd#2 for an evaluation on her lang skills. I'm already tired and haven't sewn a puppet yet.

dd#2 qualified for speech help - I wasn't surprised - she really doesn't say a word yet

and I know they want me to take away the binky, and I know I should, it's just so hard.

Sounds like a long day already! You know, I think taking a binky away is harder for mom then the kids sometimes.

Maybe you could "give the binky to the binky fairies for other babies?" and get her a special toy for being a big girl

My mom and dad did that with bottles for my sis and it worked great. There were some tears but nothing that lasted forever

That's a good idea AmbientLights. I've heard of that before - she's so non-verbal I'm not sure she'll get it. I guess either it will help

or at least it will make me feel a little better (doing something nice for her before I do something mean and tear the binky away from her

Oh that sounds so sad! I know I don't know her but I have a couple dd's myself. I think even if she doesn't totally get it,

with enough distractions and a few days time, your dd and you will be just fine

I made my older dd go cold turkey with baby bottles of water at night, that was a ROUGH week but after that we were a-okay

(I wish I had thought of the bottle fairy them lol)

LOL - she doesn't use a bottle, so I won't be able to make that swap. Although I keep telling myself it could be worse.

my sis is still nursing her little guy even though I think she's ready to stop. I really think she has become the pacifier.

I guess I should clarify, my dd was drinking baby bottles of water before bed & was peeing like crazy lol, so cold turkey for that one
AmbientLights

I can't even imagine what it would be like to "be" the pacifier! Hopefully they're able to work it out soon and I hope you are too!

These things can feel so traumatic when they're going on but when you're done it's like "oh, that wasn't so bad" lol
AmbientLights

oh, and I made sure not to do the bottle of water at night with my 2nd dd, I wasn't doing a week of screaming at night again lol. @ 1 year

I know - it's definitely one thing after another - and each seems so hard at the time

dd#1 finally got pooping in the potty down (it took so long - she's 4). I keep thinking we finally succeeded with that obstacle

I've heard some kids take a long time with #2, sounds like she's on the right track!
