Crazy Idea Time! Make and sell a small plugin device for your car which combines a wireless mesh router and a bluetooth connection
latest #10
on its own, the plug would simply act as a repeater node in the mesh network, extending the range of data flow
smartphones could interface into this mesh network through the bluetooth connection, so connecting your car to this network would be as
simple as docking your phone in the car and connecting to its bluetooth connection.
because smartphones are beginning to contain gps chips and can run apps, the phone could run any sort of traffic flow monitoring program
it also creates a flexible platform that developers can build meshed applications for cars onto.
but this way, the network could be quickly deployed across a regions car fleet, and it requires no collaboration with car manufacturers
all the heavy computational lifting could be done by the phones, which are already being invested in by users
now because of the slower data speeds inherent in mesh networks, figuring out a data protocol which efficiently transmits data will be
important to say the least. My initial thoughts have suggested a decaying-packet model which prevents endless pingponging
