how does one find out which bank holds the deed to the house I'm living in? I need to get in touch with them to negotiate a buyout...

The House should have a physical address that's registered with the City/County/Etc. That's the one you're most likely to find it under.

did you find out about the foreclosure from the current owner? or have you gotten notices at your house?

if the house is undergoing foreclosure, you won't be able to do anything until the foreclosure is done

unless the owner and bank try to do a shortsale, but those are pretty hard to actually buy

We really don't know. We got a notice in August that it was going to be sold at auction Sep. 22 but no one claimed to have bought it.

yeah, you shouldn't be paying rent, since that would go to the owner and not the bank, and they can still kick you out

The new law under Obama is very strict. They have to give us 90 days after eviction to get out and they haven't even properly evicted us...

since our legal names weren't on any eviction papers and CA state law is very strict.
