try linux--you can download a Live CD, boot from it, experiment with Linux, and not change your Hard Drive. you will like it!!

I have Linux on one of my machines. I hate the hassle it is to install programs.

if you use Ubuntu it's not a problem to install programs, of course I mean open source programs.

I use Ubuntu. Still have probs finding packages sometimes. Then if some of my hardware acts up? Too much work.

I do like Firefox for browsing and open office works fine on Linux. Guess I could make dual-boot machine.

try VirtualBox too--free virtualization similar to Parallels and VMWare...I have Ubuntu, XP, and Fedora on my Mac
