From what I've read it seems like doctors are getting trigger happy nowadays to opt for c-sections. I presume most of these are to save time

any of you guys/girls have thoughts on the topic?
Kayiko says
well they have to cut you open, and its nasty. but the babies head will be mess weirdly shapped.. however. i dont know. i feel like normal

Kayiko says

births are better.. but i guess it depends on the situations.
kerosene says
i've heard that vag births actually have some process involved that helps..something. :-P (im such a guy)
kerosene says
i just dont like the idea of unnecessarily hacking my wife open.
Kayiko says
it makes the head look funny on the baby.. but.. yeah.. i dont think you should cut the mother open if you don't have to.
kerosene says
haha, i do have a funny looking head... :-P
Kayiko says
well, it goes back to a normal roundness as the baby grows some xD cause the skull fuses together as you get older.. so i HOPE your head is
Kayiko says
normal by now
kina

hha brad was a Csection baby though! lol
kina
I think normal births are.. well.. normal, and i'd prefer it personally.. if it were an emergency I wouldn't outright refuse if they had a
kina
reason to do it.. but yeah.. I would rather at least TRY it normally before they jump the gun
kina
I'd like to think that it's genetic, mom had three normal births and her mother did too, as well as my grandmother who had 10 kids
kina
(on the other side) so I'm really hoping there are no complications. but we can't really say anything at this point
Melabe says
A normal birth is a better option unless there are complications. Although a c-section can be tempting when you think about an epsiotomy
Melabe says
I just can't wrap my head around being cut open down there....
Kayiko says
ow owow
kina
ew ew ew ew
Melabe says
Yeah... Unfortunately you either get cut or you rip. They almost always cut because it heals WAY nicer than a rip.
Melabe says
But also when you have a c-section they are cutting open your abdomen, and they pull out all your intenstines and lay them on your stomach
Melabe says
then they pull out your uterus and get the baby out. You aren't allowed to leave the hospital until you can pass gas again to ensure
Melabe says
your intenstines were all put back in nicely.
Melabe says
That seems WAY WAY WAY more crazy then cutting a small 1-2 inch line between your lady bits and your bum
Melabe says
so in conclusion.... If I were in your shoes, I would most definitely choose the vaginal delivery with the chances of an epsiotomy
Melabe says
over a c-section
Melabe says
ALSO... Mothers that deliver naturally are able to leave the hospital quicker and don't have a belly full of staples or stitched to
Melabe says
worry about when they are at home taking care of a new born

Natural Water Birth (Original)
Melabe says
TOTALLY GRAPHIC
Melabe says
But really she's pretty calm. If I ever did it I would go the water route
kerosene says
LAME.
kerosene says
yeah, i saw pictures of post c-sections..ugh. looks like a car wreck!
Kayiko says
:-& i can watch people being be-headed, and such..but i can not watch a woman giving birth..
Cyberfox says
youre gonna have to get used to it soon
Shiin says
episiotomies are really bad, make sure you do your research before you make a decision on that
Shiin says
they're pretty much standard in the US now but there are so many complications
Shiin says
c-sections are, from what i understand, mostly for emergencies, but are becoming the "popular" way to give birth
Shiin says
but yeah, natural all the way.
Shiin says
my sister was born breach...NATURALLY. hahahah
Shiin says
my aunt had to have a c-section for my cousin, i can't remember why
Shiin says
but she's never fully recovered
Shiin says
she's had constant hemmoraging and scarring and that was 10 years ago
Shiin says
she now has a huge belly, and its not because she's gained weight :-(
Shiin says
she can't do any heavy lifting
Melabe says
FYI I was wrong about them removing your intestines. The 3 people i know that have had c-sections had their intestines moved but it is
Melabe says
apparently not that common. Your intestines are only removed or moved if they are in the way of the uterus. Otherwise they donèt touch them
Melabe says
but either way you are not allowed to leave the hospital until you fart to ensure everything is working normally again
kina
CRAZY! You guys are just all scaring me! I hear if you're healthy and in shape giving birth is a lot easier, too.
kina
no one in my family ever had complications so I'm praying for a non-cutting natural baby delivering!
Melabe says
My mom always says you can judge how your childbirth will be by asking your mother.
Melabe says
So, if you mother and grandmother both had easy birth then you are pretty much in the clear :-)
kina
WOO!
kina
hopefully Brad's mom's genes don't affect it too much because he was a c-section preemie!
Melabe says
Nah.. It's all about the women :-)
kina
awesome!
Shiin
not trying to scare you, just saying do your research before making a decision about c-sections and episiotomies...women have been
Shiin
having babies for many a year naturally, lol. the medacalization of childbirth these days is rediculous. they treat it like an illness
Shiin
and unless there's something threatening either you or your baby, then unnecessary procedures with unnecessary risks seems silly
kerosene says
:-)
Kayiko says
agreed. to open you up like that brings in the risk of infections, and such. it stinky.
Kayiko says
i know that with the way Kina is.. she will want it as natural as possable.
