Works just fine through my filter, though with no PLN there I'm unsure if I'll be able to use it well.

Basically, yes. Students can share with each other, with the group, with the teacher etc. Teacher can do the same, assignments, files etc

trying Edmodo at my institute - it requires IE.7 and we only have IE.5 - so, no go Edmodo

I'm afraid it's Hobson's Choice at work - at home, I'm now using Google Chrome and I've started an Edmodo account too
