it's just a game. pokemon is a fucking 20 year deep franchise that spans several mediums

one game isn't going to break it

It's the hype tide. There's never logic to those.

I thought it was gonna be a Pokémon rival at first but then I played it and it's okay but nowhere near the same themes, mechanics, characters, music, etc

But that doesn't matter to the hype hoard. They must scream at maximum pitch for no discernable reason for the next month.
