Another classic and one that set the bar for so many others, and along the same line the same group made one of my honorable mentions Samurai Champloo.
Ok technically not a Anime/Manga but only in that it's from Korea rather than Japan. This series is amazing for the urban fantasy lover and blends the idea of devils, dragons, werewolves, and witches all into a semi modern setting.
Again technically not Animanga, but really it's a work of art that is as good as any other Anime/Manga and deserves a spot among them. The world and the story telling are just excellent. Not to mention the detail to the small things and the overall artistic quality of it.
The action, the art, the story, use of magic in a unique and stylish way. This was just a pleasure to watch and while it was short run, it didn't drag things out just to try to make more. I'm really excited to see the second part of the new as well.
