He wanted, the style of Swashbuckler, the alchemical mumbo-jumbo of artificer's alchemist, but still roguish tendencies of ~murder~

So a lot is copied or similar to Alchemist from Artificer. But he didn't want to be "magical"

The hide after a hit was an attempt to copy the thing he liked about Swashbuckler which was to run in, stab, and get away without triggering opportunity attacks

Which I thought sucked, even though he loved the flavoring so I think this keeps the flavoring, limits it to avoid abuse and makes it actually useful

17th level was very much... uhhhh... I know you don't like "spells" but you'll appreciate this one, I assure you.

They are level 3, and they are slow to progress. Definitely "explore everything" types. WHICH IS GREAT but slows down milestones.

So I'm not sure how "level 17" would work but I'll see how it goes

It's there if it needs to be and I couldn't brain the homebrew without considering the full archetype right?

ANYWAY the wording sucks but I'm just happy the rogue is happy. It took us 3 hours to figure out what the issues he had with the options were and more hours to get this sorted
