There are only 3 dungeons and with a known and accepted exploit you can run them twice within one run. No one doesn't do the exploit, and PA has mentioned they are aware but don't care to fix it lol
NOT GONNA LIE I messed up the one run twice by needing to do a mechanic I haven't done before and being told "just hit it" and then that clearly didn't work and we wiped
Another wipe we had no idea what caused it, maybe server lag, who knows
But going back to how do you do it twice at once
BDO has "tagged" characters that you can basically link together. While tagged they can share gear (at a cost), share exp and share location. You can swap between them a little faster than other characters because the game doesn't need to reload the map, just you
So most have 2 main characters. One may be favored more than the other but with tagging you tend to have 2 classes you like tagged together. Some crazy people link the same class twice
I have been one such crazy person but now have 2 mains I prefer.
One of my mains is a "support". BDO doesn't really do "support" in a traditional sense. We also don't have tanks. Everyone is a DPS, some can heal, some are squishier, some are tankier, but typical roles don't exist here
But this main can heal and buff the party more than other classes are capable. I have 4 party heals of varying capability and an offensive skill that can heal in a pinch. Along with 4 buffs I can always maintain, 1 special buff I can use every 3 min for 30 sec. And 2 debuffs (that don't work on boss fights, ha)
My other character is more DPS but she has a nice debuff everyone benefits from that shreds the opponent's defense
So our first run, the group (5 total) mostly played their "main"
In the group, 2 of us are "vets", 2 are comfortable, 1 is brand new to the dungeon difficulty, not to the dungeon
I did not play my main for our first run, I ran my dps defense shredder. The fight went well, all things considered
But then we get to the off-main so to speak
The vet and I were mostly okay. The 3 comfy/new were struggling
1 comfy kept dying, new to the level kept dying
And the other comfy could not deal enough damage to compensate
The fight has the party split in half for the first 2 out of 3 phases
The vet and I were together, while the other 3 were on their own
The side that has 2 people is harder to do, which is initially why vet and I elected to do it. Usually I am in the 3 person side so this is also where I got confused and wiped us twice because I'm not used to the 2 man side of the fight (but I learned that while playing the dps char)
In the end, the last phase is what did us in
By the end of the fight you are taking constant damage while having to juggle mechanics, side mobs and the boss wailing on you
The 2 who consistently died could not keep up with the damage and I exhausted every heal trying to maintain them, but you can't just heal in BDO, there is going to be 20 seconds of nothing you can do and pots are your only saving grace
Another issue is I-frames or invincibility frames
You can i-frame damage, yes. But you can also i-frame buffs and heals
So those dying kept panicking into i-frames and my heals failed more than they worked
Would they have lived longer if they held still? I honestly don't know
It's hard to say because the damage is constant and my heal only adds a short buffer
So really, this last phase is a dps check
Both times we wiped from a timer running out, not because we all fell to the ground
NOW I'M NOT POINTING FINGERS
lol but one of the comfies brought a class he hadn't really played before and had just made a week ago
He is very flavor of the week type ^
The newish guy also had a less familiar class but in his defense, it was 3am for him and he's still figuring out what his secondary main is. He's only been playing 6 months and that's not enough time to scratch the surface for some classes
The other comfy who died often was panic i-framing on a very squishy class
Because that usually works when you are soloing
And I am also a panic i-framer
It's hard to coordinate heals and although I verbally announce heals and buffs, it is inevitable if you are linking constant i-frames that things will get missed
SO UNFORTUNATELY we agreed to call it quits
I don't know if it was the party make up. I don't know if it was the people make up. We did fine for all the other runs
The comfy guy who has a flavor of the week class was leading us. He is trying out how to lead, it is usually me or the other vet or other others who didn't run with us (they did theirs Friday in other groups) who lead
So I don't want him to take it to heart that we failed a run but it was very humbling that we could fail. We haven't had that issue in a long time
DID I MALD? Yeah okay a little bit. I gurgled fake coffee and wheezed but I tried to encourage when we did well and dismiss the bad when I could
However, I probably stepped on leader-in-training's toes. Not intentionally, I just can't help it .-.
And I usually don't realize it until HOURS AFTER hello everyone When I actually sit and think Ahh he probably didn't like me barking orders at x mechanic
The dungeon run lasted from 12:30am - 5:40am for them, it was just my afternoon
We did the one we failed first but that took us 2 hours when it shouldn't take more than 1 even on a rough go of it
But honestly, they were good sports and I'll probably check in tomorrow to see if they'd be interested in another attempt at a more reasonable time or if they just wanna break
I will guess, they want a break lol
that sounds exhausting lol
Yes, extremely. The boss fights at this difficulty without any hiccups generally take 10-20 min depending on the dungeon
So wiping and being like "Wow we have to use all of our resources again and go through all of the phases again..."
The resources we were using (elixirs, perfumes, food buffs, altar buffs, tent buffs, special item buffs) probably cost us about 500mil per person for the 2 hours of failure we had
The reason we agreed to call it quits is because I ran out of my share of the resources I was supposed to be providing
And getting more wasn't really an option
I brought 10 sets of resources so we failed 10 times. The resources last 15 min but you lose them if you die
With 6 dungeon runs, you usually earn back 3~5bil with all of them combined depending on rng box rewards
So at worst, 1 run is 500mil returned
So spending all of that and still failing was .-. oof
But when things go smoothly, you only spend 50mil per run, so it's profitable enough that it's nbd
Just today was idk. Unfortunate
