Honestly, Kelly Thomson is maybe writing the best Birds of Prey since Gail Simone was on the book. I was a little concerned when I read the initial pitch for the book, but I didn't realize at the time that she wanted to change up the team a little for each arc, and I think that's a brilliant idea.
Those three panels especially just GOT ME, because this is the most Babs-and-Dinah Babs and Dinah have felt in yonks, and I've missed it, and I've missed them.
As much as I defend Batgirl of Burnside, those writers didn't really know how to write Dinah, and that Babs was a completely different version of Babs, and every team-up between them since hasn't really felt RIGHT.
There are a couple of really big Black Canary announcements coming up that I'm excited (and wary, in one case) for, and I can't wait until they're out so I can talk about them
Shazam! Using the Creeper last week was a very pleasant and fun surprise. I like the Creeper a lot, but like most of my faves, he doesn't get written a lot, and seeing him with the Captain was...a team up I want to see again, actually?
It also kind of made me want to see a Jack Ryder and Lois Lane story, just to see how they'd play off of each other, since they're both journalists, though very different kinds of journalists.
