Fun fact: When I was an English major too many years back, I had to memorize a Shakespeare monologue. My rote memory like that is terrible. ... So I used one of the songs to help me. Lyrics penetrate more than just straight text.

And one of the songs takes is a theater duel for the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet.

And half of the song is just straight Shakespeare.

Omfg I LOVE Bare. A couple weeks ago YT randomly threw me a Bare reunion concert with a lot of the onstage cast members (which I’m forever wry the album cast never got to be, bc Matt Doyle’s Peter is SO good: but Michael Arden!) and it put me back on SUCH a kick

And Payson Lewis, who I don’t know much about but was so good that I persuaded the part of me that’s been burned in one way or another by Bare recordings (quality, different version I like less, whatever) and watched the bits posted from the LA shows: it was VERY good. And he sings Role of a Lifetime pitched up which is pretty damn impressive lol.

(We may have discussed this mutual love before lol but i have like four braincells, bear with me 😆)
