anyway the way it happened, iirc, is that he died and someone was determined to bring him back. so they did, but they didn't have his shade, which meant he essentially came back without a soul

in canon your shade is the source of all the good things like happiness, empathy, morality, etc. you CAN still feel positive emotions and you can sort of...backdoor behaving morally, if you're a person who had a sufficient drive for that before. when someone else loses their shade she says stuff like "i'm trying really hard, but i'm doing it from memory."

and "i'm trying to ask myself, would this make quentin look at me like i'm a monster?"

i don't think he'd go as far as he did in canon if he had his shade but he could definitely go down a bad path, and the source of it would just be the trauma of growing up autistic, essentially. like quentin as the Beast had surrounded himself with artifacts from his special interest and was pretty much indiscriminately killing entire populations

and quentin in the main timeline never discusses it onscreen but the way i rp it is he thinks "i mean, yeah, i see how he got there. people aren't safe. things are. so he was getting rid of the people and replacing them with things. he just wanted to feel safe."

he'd be desperate for people to see that he's doing these things to protect them and he'd fly into rages and kill people when they didn't

actually he would kind of remind me of an SCP i read recently, where this AI is a big fangirl of humans, and this spirals into her basically using all this anomalous shit to protect The Treasured (humans) and punish Strangers (anything that means them harm, occasionally including other humans). and that becomes things like taking away humans' ability to feel

empathy for non-humans because then they might feel sorry for the strangers and strangers don't deserve anyone to feel sorry for them!

so yeah it would be kind of similar to seg, tbh, where he's basically trying to build a bubble to protect everyone he cares about, but he's really building a cage

46. ohhhhh man hmm. okay i don't think he has much pride, wrath, or greed. he definitely has lust, he trips dick-first into Situations a lot. envy For Sure, he definitely wishes he were a lot of things he's not, and he'll get overwhelmed with jealousy sometimes when faced with someone who embodies something he doesn't have

sloth...idk sloth is kind of The Depression Sin but like he does do things, he's active in his own story at least sometimes, so i don't think i'd say he suffers from the sin a lot. and gluttony is a scam by medieval lords to make their serfs think wanting enough to eat was sinful

i think ultimately i'd say he's most guilty of envy, because while he definitely is unreasonably horny he doesn't generally hurt people with it (and definitely never on purpose, while he definitely has been spiteful and jealous on purpose)
