i remember thinking a lot about his response to the cyoa and how it meant so much that he did open up eventually, but also in the moment of her trying to talk to him in the food court it was also a good wake up call like, not everyone is going to want to be coddled all of the time

and that maybe she should be more considerate of him, because he's not dealing with things in the same way as she expects

he was really interesting to her both as someone who is like herself, but also a reflection of a much more modern era and a totally different sensibility and genre, and she wound up relying on him a bit as a grounding force?

like no matter how shitty things were, totty was always ready to have fun and keep things light, and after a week or two he was pretty quickly one of her favorite people on the ship

and she felt pretty protective of him too, just knowing he wasn't from some horrific background and seeing how easily he would lose confidence in himself

THAT SAID, post everything, i think she would look back and go Oh My God, he was so obviously into me, I'm so stupid -- DURING THE TIME SHE WAS LIKE

pretty fixated on her own unrequited dramas and also having a big existential crisis, both before and after the murder/ressurection, and she'd relegated him to someone reliable she didn't have to try too hard to be anything around

but as a result she kind of wrote off some of his mannerisms as just being shy or a bit silly, instead of VERY OBVIOUSLY CRUSHING

it should also be noted that again, she has spent next to no time with people her own age before and her gauge on what is normal friendship and what attraction looks like is skewed

i think she would make a point of explaining a bit more about why she fucking hanahaki'd so hard all over him and to apologize, and offer him whatever he needs, be it space or friendship or more time to talk

she'd be devastated to lose him and he has a standing invitation to come to the Neverafter, and she'd try to visit him at home, she wants to meet his family (even if he believes it's a terrible idea kcxhkxkhdhk)
