i do think like.... as ridiculous as kipperlily's tragic backstory being "she didn't fucking have one and is pissed about it" is, it does kind of show off a part of the setting that's like... pretty bleak to think about? namely that there's the school for heroes and there's the school for NPCs. the chosen and the unchosen. it's very meta and baked in comedy

BUT. like. a big part of penny's whole Situation is that she's also a halfling from a mumple family that are all NPCs and all her siblings are also expected to go to mumple, and part of her Moving Up In The World is this expectation that she'll leave those nobodies behind
