the siren's were really designed to fuck with amy
knowing that they're fake doesn't help because of course they are. she just really wants them to be real
or not even that. she just wants to pretend. amy spends the first half of worm in a state of pretending that things are how they're supposed to be and then she has that illusion ruined for her by lisa and it all slowly falls apart until nobody can pretend anymore
and she's mostly gotten past that level of self delusion and denial but in the midst of everything else that's happening in the labyrinth, the siren offers a way for her to keep on lying to herself
the only motivator that has countered the sirens is spiting lisa wilbourn specifically
