I am unreasonably excited for the Tattoo Con next weekend. It’s always such a blast! Can’t wait to see what kind of witch jar I walk away with this time.
It’s always jam packed with stuff to see and there’s a stage area where local bands and dance groups come in to preform. Plus so much amazing art! I love it every year!
It’s a little sealed jar that “traditionally” was filled with items and spells considered to ward evil away (typically witches) that were buried under houses as a protective charm.
Except as is the way of things, they’re now little novelty items made by taxidermists and practicing wiccans as good luck charms and keepsake oddities.
The ones I keep picking up are made by a local coven that run a new age shop and they’re usually full of dried flowers and preserved insect pieces or rodent bones and coffin nails. Which sounds disturbing and disgusting but they’re actually very cute and only mildly creepy
