quinn2win: I don’t know, he was my only source of information on the topic. I know that he referred to the rest as “his crew of misfits” and that he was terrified that the boat they were given wouldn’t make it across the Pacific in one piece.

Ah. Yeah well there were a lot of people of all types sent over in ships that were very quickly built or retrofitted for the war, and a crew of misfits winning the day with a shitty boat makes for a good underdog story
