ime the community in general is a lot more about 'narratively what's the most interesting outcome here' vs 'my guy could beat up your guy' these days

another often overlooked thing in powerscaling I think put well by Stan Lee is:

powerscaling can be kind of fun if you're just messing around but never get lost in the kayfabe...

yeah it's like. ultimately harmless and with some things i even respect it. there's a reddit dedicated to powerscaling matchups with a caveat that they absolutely have to include a basic narrative with them and acknowledge how and why they would fight and not just pair up random characters who have nothing in common, which i think is neat.

but sometimes they're so fucking annoying.

imo it's deeply annoying that they are constantly finding contrived reasons for superheroes to fight each other to entice the powerscaler fans

yeah powerscalers within superhero comics (specifically the writers) are a plague

especially bc they're not even well researched

they recently had batman fight cassandra cain and lose, which is just a basic sign that zdarsky doesn't even know who she is

power scaling is inherently silly, but I've got a soft spot for Death Battle on youtube - they do a pretty good job of creating reasonably even match-ups and justifying it by reviewing canon events and calculating the forces involved in things characters have done...but honestly the biggest thing that makes me like their approach....

is that when they matched Deadpool against Pinkie Pie, the two of them stopped mid-fight, decided they didn't want to kill each other, escaped the video, and broke the youtube interface

Death Battle is cool, wish I knew what the source of their grudge against DBZ is
