FIRST, if you are excited for it, this is not to rain on your parade, but this probably isn't the plurk for you
Not doing the choosing sides, how dare you whatever game. So don't take it that way. More just me venting frustrations and Opinions
WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY........
I was really unimpressed with the Xbox showcase in general. Maybe 2 games looked like something I'd be interested in, Dragon Age isn't one of them
Which is sad? I have read all the books, comics, played all the games, dlcs, side games. I have loved that series. If you have RP'd with any of my DA characters, lmao I think you know
Fiona, Evangeline, Sera... I have a type but you might not guess from that list LOL
The trailer was .... lackluster. I was talking to a friend about it and we both agreed it looks like a Marvel rip off
AND FUCKING ballsy of EA to take Varric as a main character for a third time after letting go his lead writer and not even giving her the severance package she was promised so now her and others laid off have to sue
What a fucking punch in the face
Honestly, it's just the audacity lol
The style is fine. It's probably the same graphics they are intending for Project Rene (Sims 5) and I don't mind it
I don't understand the criticism to the style when there are clearly bigger issues
There's a few other things... but.

being angy is tiresome
I'm personally going to see how it goes, of course I want to play? I feel like I've invested in this series to an extent that I want to see what happens next, even if it's a train wreck.
But I don't think I'll be giving EA any money to play it
Anyways, just a lot of humbug. The two games I were like Hello, nice to meet you. When are you coming to stay.
Fable and Avowed, but I'll still wait and see for both
Man, game industry been so untrustworthy and scummy. I just don't want to bother getting excited for anything
the sad thing is, i think, in general, looking outside the things that interest me in particular which like you is like... two things though not the same two things, this is over all XBOX's best showcase
not accounting for early Halo-esq days
DA, Gears, Fable, Fallout, Monster Hunter, Perfect Dark
all big eyeball drawing things, plus lots of indie things
all, on paper, very good for them
but somehow it does feel... very ~meh~
maybe it's the gaming industry, maybe it's the general world state, or my personal lack of interest in most of things or some combination i don't know
i also felt the same way bout the Gamesfest showcase and i honestly had no idea Sony had already done their thing until i remembered Silent Hill 2 remake had just been shown off and realized that must have been Sony's showcase
just a lot of... okay, sure
Yeah.. the friend I was talking to was interested in ... I think Expedition 33 was the name? But the plot was meh, the gameplay is turnbased (which is a meh from me) and it just didn't make me excited
ARE WE JADED? Or do these game trailers just suck lol
probably a mix of both, lol
jaded, definitely, and just looking at the DA trailer - it was objectively bad
even if the game turns out amazing, that was a bad call to put a fortnight-esq Avenger style meet the team pitch
and Gears? which i'm honestly down for because i still have a special place for the franchise despite the terrible last game, the trailer was very 'i've seen and heard this before'
literally using a somehow sadder cover of Mad World
Wait, lemme dig up Inq trailer, cause it was a silent meet and greet, but arguably done much better
I THINK what the trailer is missing from the new one, and a lot of the other trailers
There's no death looming or What's that, what's happening, Why is a fade creature OUT of the Fade
the scene that stuck out me was the little dwarf lady jumping out of the veil and then monster grabs her
... and we get a "funny little face and fun music rif"
very clearly being like 'don't worry she's fine, this is fun!'
I only care about that character LMAO
Everyone else was blaaaaaaand
just a weird tone for a game that's about the possible end of the world?
You look at Origins and you look at VG and you're like
Wait. This is the same series???
I genuinely thought this was like a mini game to tide us over for the real release
But then I found out about the name change and that made it depressing lol
And damn, now I wanna replay Origins lol rip
I think this is all valid tbh
Not disagreeing but it's funny because I remember seeing trailers for Origins before it came out because someone I played Tabletop games with was excited for "Dwarf game of thrones"
and my takeaway was "This looks like every other generic fantasy series. Pass. Not interested."
I think that's why it ended up being good though
Also, the DAO trailer is very Halo vibes in my opinion
Which makes sense... considering the time
(I also had less than 0 interest in Halo)
Yeah but I think either way. There was the idea of odds stacked against you kinda deal
And VG's, by comparison, looked like Tee Hee. We have different personalities, Fade jumping is Fun UwU
Tell me if I have gone too far...
