he isn't that major of a character most of the time in -san but he has good moments... he's a lot more of a pushover than their mom is and sometimes gets relegated to being the one sane person who doesn't understand what the fuck's going on
he had an ambiguous medical emergency that was probably a heart attack toward toward the end of the second season that made it clear that even though his sons are shitty kids most of the time they do really love him a lot, and totty in particular was the one who was most reluctant to leave when they were all sitting by his hospital bed...
and there's this one episode in the third season that's like. it's a callback to the old -kun anime where they bring back these goofy looking aliens that disguise themselves as humans and try to replace everyone
and the sextuplets and their mom all got replaced and the only people who know what's going on are iyami and matsuzo and he is just willing to do everything and fight the whole world to rescue his sons!!! and it made me appreciate him a whole lot...
like the 80s anime has him yelling at his sons who are 5th graders because they don't want to go buy him cigarettes and it acts like that's Just A Dad Thing and i'm like ah
lmao god in the movie like-- the premise is they got pulled into this memory world so they're all watching themselves from the day of their high school graduation and there's this scene where they're lurking outside their house and watching him talk to himself as he comes home
