Been a rush since landing! Haven't done anything yet except getting transport.
But man... Eating with parents is going to be very very very tough.
No simple carbohydrates, no fatty food, no raw.
So no sushi, no ramen, no rice. No fried foods, no wagyu beef. Finally found a yakitori place for them in some back alley place that if I was in the America, I would be very very very worried about getting mugged.
Feeling a little strained from the rush, then realizing I'm probably dehydrated and low blood sugar plus sleep deprived... Hoping I get a good night's sleep tonight.
I hope you have a great time!
Oh man. Your parents and food. I hope that you get to eat some of that stuff. I'm sure it promises to be pretty good. I wish you so much fun and a wonderful time, love. You deserve all the best.
Yay for convenient stores! Why can't we have actual real convenience stores in North America? They literally have one or two every small block corner. And it's full of food! Like... What is this.
Fruits are expensive, so real. Thankfully I found them a solution of the local version of V8. They are now very happy. Lol
zigzag123: me too! But no anime shopping though.
mikomitears: omg, eating with them. I want to cry. Lol.
Still fun and enjoy the sights!
I know how it is at your house, so I can only imagine. I don't get it. I really don't. Your parents are in a culture that lives on certain things, and you have to forego the main components. It's insane. I mean, they know this. You know this. Just. Your parents. I feel for you. You will still enjoy things.
Back at hotel now, it's midnight. We're still doing... A more thorough job of cleaning the hotel room than housekeeping.
No simple carbs in Japan oh dear. Good luck?
omnomivore: lol Don't even get me started. We're going to Japan and our suitcases are full of protein bars and apple sauce.
Cleaning. Figures. I love you darling. Best of luck and may you sleep soon!
My own mother isn't to that extreme, but that sure sounds like her side of the family. I hope you get to enjoy plenty of Japanese stuff regardless!
omnomivore: I have decided that I might just treat them to the most expensive buffet that has
everything, that way they can eat what they want and I'll eat whatever I want.
mikomitears: yeah, sure disinfects and bleaches everything, then table cloths all table surfaces before using them. It's so insane.
Sounds like a necessary compromise, yeah
I recall your family stories. I remember talking all through the "plague" , even over discord while we played games. I could not get over it all. I imagine that it's exactly like this. But you have to EVENTUALLY sleep. The body does not last forever.
Story of sleep. They ended up waking up at 5ish 6 and started chatting. Softly. But Japanese rooms are small. I'm awakened.
it's only sharing one meal a day with them an option?
komikbookgeek: Nope. Lol. Best I can do is buying from street vendors.
