Omfg, father is repacking all our things into convenient suitcases.... And my mother has brought 1 completely full suitcase of dietary foods on this trip. Between apple sauce and dried prunes and power bars and nuts that they consider their staple healthy diet.... 1 completely stuffed and packed suitcase.
Who goes on vacation like this!?
Fuzzytale: yes. This is exactly it. We have 3 checked suitcases, 3 carry on. My mother has spread the food out amongst the 6 cases (in case the airline lose our stuff), and now that dad decides to repack everything in the hotel room... It is discovered that there is 1 full case of it.
My breakfast this morning...

And my parents found that only the tofu was acceptable.
And dad weighed the food suitcase. 31 lbs.
and honestly... who the fuck wants to live forever by obsessing about every tasteless bite of food and never relaxing and just enjoying things
Yeah... Don't ask me. It took me forever to convince my mother that the seafood is safe to eat
um. why did they decide to go to Japan if they're not going to eat the food?
they want to try the food...but not eat it...
ohhhman. I know I'd have a rough time in Japan because of all my food intolerances, but I'd still want to. I've only heard amazing things about even their convenience store food.
Dad is pre diabetic. So mom went crazy overboard with health nutrition, especially since she'd had health issues before. We eat literally over 50 vitamin pills each daily.

Managed to please them with lunch! Grilled steaks. There's chicken for mom, beef for dad, and I found kangaroo.
kangaroo?! I didn't know that was a thing
that's...really pushing eating disorder level of "only eating healthy" - extremely few people need that many vitamins, and those that are are on super restricted diets. like can only eat 3-5 things due to allergies.
how did the kangaroo taste?
Yeah, sounds like orthorexia tbh. Sorry you're dealing with that because it does NOT sound healthy.
thank you, i really couldn't remember how that word started.
Fuzzytale:
komikbookgeek: Oh, yes, I've had kangaroo tail at home before. From Australia wild, very chewy. Tastes exactly like beef, actually. Lean beef.
omnomivore: is that a real thing? But yes, it's... Crazy. Yeah, when at home I eat only one meal with them a day, and usually that's oven cooked chicken breast and boiled vegetables, and one oven baked tomato. Weekends are slightly different, usually with a little more healthy variety.
Oh yeah, obsessive healthy eating to the point where it impacts your quality of life is a real, legit eating disorder. Just one that doesn't get as much acknowledgement because society sees "healthy" eating habits as inherently good, even when they're extreme.
yeah it's going to be a working muscle. that sounds good
and yes, orthorexia is a very real thing. also taking all those supplements is wastefully expensive, because if it's a water-soluble vitamin, then you just pee it out. When your body has the max, it can hold and most of those supplements go way way over the max, you can hold. Fat-soluble vitamins can actually be dangerous because they can build to toxic
levels and cause health problems and that's assuming your getting what is actually on the label.
Yeah, though my mother does read a lot of that stuff for hobby, so she has things well in hand. This actually started because she had a situation of a mineral imbalance, and now she's gone overboard obsessive about it.
Okay, the plan for buffet worked and they're very happy. I am too because got to check off many of my food bucket list at once.
-wagyu
-umi
-horse meat
-Toro... Or I think it was toro of some sort and not just the back side of the tuna
that lunch looks really good
1am now... Crashing hard.
even though I can't eat half of it because allergies
sleep well, and hope you have many more food adventures!
the buffet sounds amazing
