So, it has occurred to me while Wu Xin has ways of not drowning in the ocean, I'm not quite sure he really knows how to swim.

But on a peaceful day he can now stand on the water like some supernatural thing. As long as he doesn't get pulled under the waves. Otherwise it'll be a very sorry looking monk trying to get back to the surface.

I can't decide a deck 1 cabin or not for him.

Barge aside, it's boy's first cruise! And so much water! Aside from this birthday in the Enclosure, he hasn't seen that much water. He has only heard of it.

Will's going to check in on Wu Xin and make sure he knows how all the technology on board works and help him learn to swim if he'd like to. :3 It's a good skill to have!

Will is very comfortable in the water. He grew up in New Orleans and his dad frequently fixed up boats (and in his book canon, he spends a few years doing so as a living in Miami).

But the story behind that, which I guess would be in his file... Basically after Wu Xin's master died, and his time as a hostage was up, they needed to decide what to do with the young Wu Xin. So their decision is to transport him to another temple where a great monk there would have the power to get rid of all his powers/abilities.

And in order to transport him, they stuffed him into this golden coffin that has the power to seal his meridians for transport. It was said that he volunteered to go into the coffin himself when he heard that decision.

Then rumors got spread that this golden coffin holds powerful martial arts. Or great secrets. Or just plain money (that coffin is pure solid gold is fact). So all sorts of crazy random people want to steal it. Then those who know what is actually inside also want to steal him.

And he himself wanted to be transported just so he could escape in the middle of the transport because he knew it would be chaotic and give him opportunity to get free. And while running, kidnapped two people along the way to pay for his runaway teenager spree.

Oh sure, we can handwave that! (I'm just trying to get through my old tags ) Will's not going to ask about the coffin right away, but he'll probably get to it during the perm-pairing conversation. 'cause that's the sort of thing that you either want or you really don't. Good to know all of that, though! Poor kid.

siderealtime: it's a reminder of his unfinished business. So is his whole room. It's the room from his home beyond, not the temple room, clearly. So it's the one where he's the little lordling where people are waiting for him to return.
