tbh I've always distrusted any automatic litter boxes. even the ones that just have the comb that pushes the poop into a tray

brain always worries
sagesaria: so actually, most of the reputable ones have a manual mode where you can actually push a button to make it run with you standing there with supervision rather than when the cat is using it. And the you know, oldest way of doing that is just unplug it and only plug it in, and they have it clean when you're standing there to supervise
Which is honestly, how I would use them just because we have four cats and one of them likes to like, try to shove his face up his sibling's ass literally.

I feel like if you have to supervise the automatic feeder that you might as well do it the old fashioned way. There are automatic litter boxes that have much safer designs than this literal cat guillotine, but I will admit that I have no personal experience with any of them, I still scoop with a shovel.

I still scoop with a shovel but it's nice to know what to avoid if I'm ever unable to scoop my cat's litter box manually or are gifted anything like this for my kitties!

TW for cat deaths but this video has more info for those interested:The DEADLY self-cleaning litter boxes that have floo...
Just know the video may be a bit too much for those sensitive
There are cw in them and I only watched maybe 10 something minutes just to see what type of brands and boxes to watch out for. I'm not as sensitive about it but I didn't want to get into too much myself after the demonstration on a Plush toy
The tldr of what I gathered from a previous plurk and what I saw from the video is:
1. It's literally guillotining cats (as the first comment in this says)
2. A woman explains (in tears obv) about finding her cat early in
3. The ones that cycle upwards are the dangerous ones because they're inclosed
4. The ones without the enclosed tops should be fine

(I'd double check that though since my memory is rust)
5. The ones he's tested in the past are things he's okay ed (by the sounds of it)
6. He does a good job explaining things as far as I remember
7. The ones in question are dropshipped and sold under a lot of different brand names. Once one is flagged, they'll take the product down and put it up under a
Different name by the sounds of it to get around it on sites like amazon

Drop shipping needs to be better regulated or just made flat out illegal

Too many dangerous products from other countries skirt US safety laws via drop shipping
TwiceBlessed: eh there are people who have good reason to not be able to. my friend with cancer, for instance isn't supposed to scoop litter.
