because why wouldn't this happen
of course
Oh hey! Ellen Datlow! The woman who ruined my life!
Mine was already off, and I don't recall that I have turned it off previously, which isn't to say they won't turn it on automatically and I'll have to go back and change it, but not something to panic over
I don't have any settings like that but maybe that's due to being listed as business, not personal
A good reminder! Mine was also off by default, but will check again in November!
Mine was on by default, I turned it off just now. Thank you ♥
can companies like. stop.
I didn't have it either, but might have something to do with being outside the USA.
But thanks for notifying! Definitely passing this on!
if you're outside the USA, they might have had to leave it off by law. But anyone in the USA probably has theirs turned on by default (best guess)
yeah that's a reasonable guess
I already had marketing cookies turned off, I'm glad this one was brought up...
i'm outside US and i don't event have a "manage shared info" section i think, but thank you for the heads-up!
EU here, so likely not "openly" using my data due to stricter EU legislation. will pass this along for US and non-EU fam tho, ty for the heads up!
UK and i don't have this option! replurking and commenting for visibility though
From Canada and didn't have this option but also replurking
US and it was toggled on by default for me
I believe California folks might be spared from it being automatically on
on the mobile app: 3 menu lines top left > your profile > data and privacy > personalized shopping.
for the buttons to push to get where you need.
I haven’t seen it but gdi PayPal
(US/VT, was turned off automatically)
i mean, i got a message directly from them showing me how to opt out of this back in september, but ok

actually checking my PayPal email
huh look at that >_>
mine was also turned off, so I guess it varies
I'm not finding any notification on my end, but it was off, either because I had it off when I set it up or they didn't turn it on for me (US, California). So basically: Thank you for the reminder to doublecheck this, as I prefer this stuff to be opt-in.
Yeah, I shared this with my irl friends group discord and we're all from US/WA and had a pretty even split of people who had it 'off' by default and people who had it 'on' by default, so it seems better to check!
US, WA was on by default! appreciate the note.
US-AR, was on by default but lol Arkansas
im not seeing this setting anywhere under data and privacy on either the website or android app
but yeah, im a business account, so i guess that tracks
